Lingual braces are much like traditional braces, with one important difference: they're placed behind your teeth, facing into your mouth. This makes them almost impossible for others to see!
Lingual braces are a great choice for adults and teens who need to have their teeth straightened with metal braces, but who are looking for a more understated, lower-profile look than traditional braces provide.
How do I know if I'm a candidate for Lingual Braces?
Lingual braces have been used to treat teens and adults ranging in age from 13 to 60+.
Each individual case is different and appropriateness of the treatment depends on the amount of crowding and a variety of other dental factors.
Our orthodontists will be able to tell you if lingual braces are the right treatment option for you during your initial consultation.
If you are not a candidate for lingual braces, you may still be a candidate for Invisalign® treatment or clear cosmetic braces, both of which are also very low profile, and offer cleaner lines than traditional braces.
Who Wears Lingual Braces?
As mentioned above, lingual braces are a great choice for teens and adults who are concerned about wearing braces that are obvious to their friends, families, work colleagues or schoolmates. Musicians who play wind instruments, adult professionals, and people who play contact sports are all ideal candidates.
